The Balance and Flow Walk

Pause deliberately with both feet on the floor.

Starting Position

Stand beside a counter. Feet comfortably apart, one hand resting on support.

Step-by-Step Movement Instructions

  1. 1Take two small Basic Tai Chi JingFlow steps.
  2. 2Pause with both feet down. Feel the pressure through each foot.
  3. 3Take two more steps, then pause again.
  4. 4Continue slowly. Turn with small lifted steps, or stop before the path ends.

Practice Duration

One minute, including the pauses.

Breathing Cue

Keep breathing during each pause. Let the shoulders settle.

Supported & Seated Variation (Path A)

Hold the counter throughout. For stationary practice, replace steps with two small shifts and a pause.

What to Notice During Practice

The pause should be a choice, rather than a response to a wobble.

When to Stop Immediately:

An urgent grab for support, confusion about foot placement, or pain.

Sit down safely if you feel light-headed or unsteady. There is never any reason to push through pain or discomfort.

“Both feet stay down during the pause. This is not a single-leg balance hold.”
