The Three Breath Opening Ritual

Check how you feel and choose the session that fits today.

Starting Position

Sit or stand safely in your practice space. Both feet supported. Take a moment before moving.

Step-by-Step Movement Instructions

  1. 1First breath: notice your energy, joint comfort, and steadiness. Take a moment to decide whether practice suits you today.
  2. 2Second breath: soften your shoulders. Check the floor and the location of your support.
  3. 3Third breath: choose a three-, five-, or ten-minute session, or rest.
  4. 4Begin with a familiar movement. If standing feels uncertain, choose seated practice.

Practice Duration

Three natural breaths, usually under one minute.

Breathing Cue

Ordinary breathing. No breath-holding.

Supported & Seated Variation (Path A)

Complete the whole ritual seated. Choose Exercise 32 if you want a seated session.

What to Notice During Practice

Make the choice from today's condition, rather than yesterday's plan.

When to Stop Immediately:

New dizziness, faintness, chest symptoms, or unusual breathlessness.

Sit down safely if you feel light-headed or unsteady. There is never any reason to push through pain or discomfort.

“These breaths are inside the session time. There's no extra minute to add.”
