The Five Minute Reset Walk

Take a short walking break using steps you already know.

Starting Position

Choose a level path beside support. Begin only if standing feels steady.

Step-by-Step Movement Instructions

  1. 1Minute 1: walk slowly, with short steps and relaxed arms.
  2. 2Minutes 2 to 3: use the Basic Walk. Pause whenever needed.
  3. 3Minute 4: check that you can speak a full sentence comfortably. Reduce the pace if you cannot.
  4. 4Minute 5: slow your steps. Finish with both feet supported and an ordinary breath.

Practice Duration

Five minutes total, including pauses and finishing.

Breathing Cue

Natural breathing. No four/six count is required while walking.

Supported & Seated Variation (Path A)

Walk along a counter. Choose Exercise 32 instead if walking is uncertain.

What to Notice During Practice

Finish ready to return to your day, rather than feeling drained.

When to Stop Immediately:

Chest symptoms, dizziness, unusual breathlessness, pain, or balance changes.

Sit down safely if you feel light-headed or unsteady. There is never any reason to push through pain or discomfort.

“Sit when you need to. The timer gives you a plan, not a reason to continue through discomfort.”
